Imeelezwa kuwa uzingatiaji mtindo bora wa maisha ikiwemo kufanya mazoezi pamoja na ulaji wa vyakula unaofaa kwa kupunguza matumizi ya chumvi, sukari na mafuta husaidia kupunguza magonjwa Yasiyoambukiza.

Waziri wa Afya Mhe. Ummy Mwalimu amesema hayo leo Mei 27, 2024 baada ya matembezi maalum yajulikanayo kama ‘Walk the Talk, the health for all challenges’ yaliyoandaliwa na Shirika la Afya Duniani (WHO) kila mwaka wakati wa mkutano wa mwaka wa ‘World Health Assembly(WHA)’ nchini Uswisi.

Waziri Ummy amesema lengo la matembezi hayo ni kuikumbusha jamii kuhusu umuhimu wa kufanya mazoezi ikiwa ni njia mojawapo ya kujilinda na magonjwa Yasiambukiza yakiwemo Kisukari, Shinikizo la juu la damu pamoja na Saratani.

“Katika kuzingatia hilo, Tanzania imeanza kutekeleza kampeni hiyo ambapo hivi karibuni Waziri Mkuu wa Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania Mhe. Kassim Majaliwa, alizindua utaratibu wa kufanya mazoezi kwa wakazi wa Dar Es Salaam ambapo ameruhusu kufungwa kwa barabara inayopitia daraja la Tanzanite ili itumike na wananchi kufanya mazoezi kuanzi saa 12:00 asubuhi hadi saa 3:00 asubuhi.

Kwa upande wake Mkurugenzi Mkuu wa Shirika la Afya Duniani (WHO) Dkt. Tedros Ghebreyesus amesema ni wakati muhimu sasa kwa jamii yote kuhakikisha wanajenga utamaduni wa kufanya mazoezi kwa lengo la kuimarisha Afya zao pamoja na kujikinga na magonjwa Yasiyoambukiza.

“Kwa sasa Duniani inaendelea kushuhudia ongezeko kubwa la magonjwa Yasiyoambukiza, kulingana na takwimu na taarifa zilizopo zinaeleza kuwa, sababu za kuongezeka kwa magonjwa haya ni pamoja na kutofanya mazoezi ya mwili, kutozingatia mlo sahihi wa vyakula, matumizi yasiyo sahihi ya chumvi, sukari pamoja na Mafuta.” Amesema Dkt. Amesema, nchi zote za wanachama wa Shirika la Afya Duniani (WHO) zinashauriwa kuhakikisha zinatoa elimu sahihi kwa jamii kuhusu kujikinga na magonjwa Yasiyoambukiza pamoja na namna bora ya kutibu na kuishi na magonjwa haya.
